Lush Bubble Gum Lip Scrub

I am a total Lushie. Ever since I was introduced to Lush a couple years ago I've been obsessed with their products. I started out by using the fun and colorful bath bombs then I gradually started getting into their skincare. And best of all, they believe in no animal testing and fresh products! Today, I bring you my review of the cult favorite- Lush's Lip Scrub!

Lush has Bubble Gum, Popcorn, and Mint Julips version of the lip scrub. I decided to go with bubble gum because I love sweets and the pink color is gorgeous! The purpose of a lip scrub is to remove dead skin from your lips, which is so important when applying lipstick. Flakey lips and lipstick is never a good combo. Surprisingly, I have never used a lip scrub before! I've always used a damp washcloth to gently remove any dead skin.

I love that there isn't a never ending list of ingredients in this lip scrub. It's basically sugar and jojoba oil, which definitely helps with moisturizing your lips. To use this product all you do is take a tiny amount out of the pot and rub it onto your lip with your finger. Then, you can either wipe the off the excess or lick it off, which sounds odd but it's totally safe and even tastes good! I mean, it is sugar after all!

Prior to trying this product, I was nervous it would scrape my lips and be very harsh. However, this product removes any dead skin very gently and leaves my lips so soft. This product is a must for anyone who loves wearing lipstick and anyone who struggles with dry, flakey lips. This lip scrub will be so useful when the weather cools off because my lips and cold weather do not mix well.

Overall, I love this product! You should definitely give it a look whenever you are in a Lush store. Have any tips for dry lips? Comment below!

Outfit and Makeup of the Day: Transitioning into Fall

Can you believe it's almost September? As much as I love fall, I don't feel quite ready to leave summer behind just yet. The end of August and September are still warm, so it's a great time to mix your favorite summer pieces with the items you are most excited to wear for fall.

Top: Marshalls, Jeans: American Eagle, Sandals: DV by Dolce Vita, Bag: Forever 21, Sunglasses: Betsey Johnson

This will definitely be my go-to outfit for the transition period from summer to fall. I absolutely love this top, which I found at Marshalls for less than 10 bucks! It's such a nice soft and flowy material that makes it as comfortable as your favorite lounge shirt, but has a cute and flattering shape. I paired it with these American Eagle floral skinny jeans. These jeans are great since they have the traditional floral pattern that is perfect for spring/summer, but the dark colors pull in fall/winter trends. These jeans are a great statement piece for all year round!

And, of course, I also wore my favorite summer sandals and sunglasses that I've been reaching for constantly the past few months. I finished off the look with my little Forever 21 bag that goes with everything. I love the zipper detail on the front. This outfit is so great because it has both summer and fall elements while still being cohesive and of course cute!

This makeup look was simple since I did my basic foundation routine with my favorite go-to eye look using my Naked Palette 2. For the eye shadow I used a champagne shimmery color all over the lid and blended a medium toned matte brown in the crease. I finished it off with a thin line of dark brown eyeshadow along my lash line and mascara, of course! Mascara is my number one beauty must have!

I used a bit of bronzer in the typical "3" shape going from my forehead to below my cheek bones and then along my jaw line with my NYC Sunny Bronzer. The standout product is this Maybelline Vivid Lipstick in On Fire Red. I love wearing red lippies in fall and winter! This shade is a great red with cooler undertones, which helps to make your teeth look whiter compared to an orange toned red lipstick.

Steven and I had so much fun this evening! We went around and browsed some stores and of course any date needs some froyo.

Who knew cheesecake froyo could be so good?

We also went to Barnes and Noble and I always take pictures on my phone of interesting books that I need to add to Goodreads later. The Barnes and Noble near my apartment is so huge! It's a book lover's dream for sure!

And of course I always get excited when I see my sister's name in the acknowledgment of books :)
Make sure to comment below if you have any good tips for transitioning your looks from summer to fall! I hope to make a whole post on different looks soon!

Walks Along the Canal

Hello all! One great thing about my apartment is that it's right near the Erie Canal trail, which makes for beautiful summer evening walks. Steven and I have been trying to be more active so it's nice to have the trail. We plan on going biking soon!

It's so peaceful, which you would not necessarily think since it's a trail with a bunch of people walking, running, and biking. It's quiet and serene.

Along the trail there's gorgeous flowers and little docks (and ducks too!)

Of course we had to take a selfie! Steven had been hunting for a pair of sunglasses for weeks and he finally found a pair he liked at Target. Yay Target! Mine are from Forever 21.

I love this picture! I am excited for more walks to come throughout the summer and into the fall. I imagine the trail looks spectacular when the leaves change. Steven and I are hopefully going to check out more new places around our apartment so I'll make sure to blog about any awesome places we checkout!

Outfit of the Day: Bows

Hello summer! I've been loving the blue skies and sunny weather. Even though I basically can't leave the house without loads of sunscreen in fear of turning into a lobster. Pale skin life.
Top: Forever 21, Shorts: Aeropostale, Sandals: DV by Dolce Vita, Bag: Forever 21, Sunglasses: Betsey Johnson

This was the day I had my job interview and I wore this top with a pencil skirt and wedges. Steven and I were going shopping so I switched out the skirt for some jean shorts and the wedges for my favorite sandals. I love this bow top because it's so girly and flowy and it's so versatile! A shirt that can go from a job interview to a casual day look is always amazing.

I've also been loving my Forever 21 white bag. It's small so it holds the essentials and does not weigh down my shoulder. There's nothing worse than a sore shoulder from lugging around a heavy bag!  This bag is similar to the top in that it can go with so many looks and can be dressed up or dressed down.

I finished off my day with a Baja Blast Freeze and oh my god what have I been missing all my life! Hope your summer is going well!

Outfit of the Day: Printed Pants and Catching Up

Top: TJ Maxx, Pants: Old Navy, Shoes: Franco Sarto, Sunglasses: Betsy Johnson, Nails: Formula X in Power Source

Jessica, that doesn't look like the middle of the woods! Well readers, I moved! My boyfriend Steven and I have moved out, which has been both super exciting and super scary. Moving out for good has actually been really difficult and I did not expect to miss home so much, but I think with time it will get easier to be away from home. After 10 days we finally got everything unpacked so that has helped make this new apartment feel like home. The sad part is I have a walk in closet and all my stuff doesn't even fit in it. *Sigh* Despite the tricky transition, I am very excited to start grad school and the new chapter in my life! And I have much better internet here and backgrounds for pictures so it will be easier to blog :) Expect more outfit posts over the next couple days and leave any requests below!

Ipsy March, April, and May Glam Bag Review

So I took some time off of blogging and was trying to decide if it was a project I still wanted to continue since it can be difficult to keep up my blog when school comes back around. The other day I suddenly really missed posting on my blog so I decided to definitely keep posting! I have some exciting ideas for this blog that extend throughout the rest of the year so let's hope I stay on top of everything because I really love blogging when I have the time (and even sometimes when I don't and should be doing work).

Today I bring you a review of Ipsy. If you do not know, Ipsy is a monthly subscription service where you get about 5 sample or full-sized products that include hair products, makeup, fragrances, skincare, and beauty tools. This also includes a makeup bag EVERY month, which I especially love! The best part is it only costs 10 bucks a month, which is a steal if you ask me. Michelle Phan is the creator behind this business and I love her! She's a major Youtube success story where she went from living in a tiny apartment with her mother and brother barely getting by to becoming a CEO of multiple companies. If you are interested in learning more about Michelle, I recommend looking at her Youtube channel or picking up her recently published book! Now lets get into the review.

March Bag: Floral Fantasy
I had mixed feelings about my first bag. I received a full sized NYX Butter Lipstick, which I was not excited about because of the color. There were very bright florally colored lipsticks on the Ipsy website but I got a brown/nude shade. However, I am really pleased with this color because it is actually a great darker nude shade for me! I started to see the appeal for the beauty subscription service because I would have never bought that lipstick shade but I am so happy I have it now. I also got the Mesmerizing Mineral Duo from Pixi by Petra. I'm not a big fan of the bronze shade because it's a bit too warm toned for my complexion but the highlight shade it gorgeous! The Chella Ivory Lace Highlighter isn't a product I gravitate towards because I wanted to use it on my water line to brighten up my eyes, but the color looks a bit fake on me. The Crown Oval Concealer Brush didn't impress me for it's designated purpose, but this type of brush is good for packing on eyeshadow. Lastly, I liked my sample of the Coolway Glow Oil Treatment because I had been looking to try out some hair oils so this came at the perfect time! I've used in on wet and dry hair and it has worked pretty well at taming the frizz. Also, I really love the actual makeup bag. The floral pattern is so cute and it's smaller than my typical makeup bags, which makes it perfect for sticking in my handbag or school bag rather than my larger traveling makeup bags. However, these bags are great for traveling too!

April Bag: Beautifully Bohemian
Each bag comes with a card that shows the monthly theme and how to win a one year subscription. I wish there was a description of each product on the card, but you have to go online to read about the products. However, I really like their online website. You can see all the products you received along with all of the products that were distributed that month, plus you can browse all the past Glam Bags. You can also earn points by reviewing products, sharing your thoughts on social media, and referring friends.

The makeup bag was very cute for this month! I love the woven style with the bright colors mixed in. I really did not think the makeup bags would be great quality when I subscribed, but I have been pleasantly surprised each month!

This was my favorite month so far. The Hikari blush can be a little hard to blend, but the color is so gorgeous for spring and summer. It brighten up my cheeks and is a great statement product. I absolutely love the Jor'el Parker fragrance in Femina. At first when I saw I was getting this product I was scared it was going to be too floral, but this is the perfect blend of floral and fresh with a hint of citrus. Plus it's a great sized sample for a rollerball fragrance! I also love the Hey Honey Good Morning Honey Silk Face Serum. I use this product under my makeup and it made my skin feel amazingly smooth and provided a great base for my makeup. This is the serum/primer of my dreams! I looked up the full sized product and it's over 40 dollars *cries*. I'm going to try to find a dupe for it or maybe even treat myself one day ;) The Starlooks lipgloss is ok, I am just not a huge fan of lipgloss to begin with and this one has too much shimmer for me. I was extremely excited to get a sample from The Balm's Nude Dude palette! I have their Nude Tude palette and the quality of the shadows are amazing. This bronze shimmery color is one that is close to other shadows I have (Like shades from my Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette) but I will definitely still use this sample. Plus it's great for on the go!

May Bag: Jetsetter
This makeup bag is my favorite! I love the textured material, the little quote with the illustration, and the inside is lime green! It's just so chic. I am very impressed with the BellaPierre Cosmetics Waterproof Mineral Gel Eyeliner Pencil. It has the consistency of the typical gel eyeliner that comes in a pot, but it's in a stick form. It glides on super easily and stays put all day. I have struggled with finding eyeliners that don't fade and aren't too tricky to put on, and this one is perfect! I also really enjoy using the Pixi by Petra bronzer. I was nervous trying this one out because it's shimmery, which can look way too overdone and sparkly. However, this bronzer is perfect with my complexion because it's more cool toned and the shimmer is very fine. I like to use this on my cheeks for a summer glow. I definitely wouldn't recommend using this for serious contouring because of the shimmer, but as a basic glowy bronzer it's great! I've only used the Alterna Haircare CC Cream once but it seemed to add some moisture to my hair. I have not yet used the Peter Lamas Detoxifying Citrus C Facial Cleanser because I am saving it for when I'm on vacation in NYC! Yay for sample sizes!

In this bag I also received a sample pack from Urban Decay. I am a huge Urban Decay fan so I was very excited for these samples. In this included the 24/7 Glide On Lip Pencil and two samples of the Revolution High-Color Lipgloss. The lip pencil is clear but it works well to prime my lips for lipstick. It makes a smooth base for any lip product to go over it. I know the lipgloss samples were a bonus, but they were so hard to use! They came in a little foil packet and I only used them once because there's no great way to store them after you've opened them. These glosses are very pigmented and super glossy. I am not a lipgloss kind of a girl, but if you are I would definitely recommend checking them out.

Overall, I really love my Ipsy subscription! It is so fun to have it delivered each month with new products to try out. I think the price is very reasonable considering the amount of products you receive and the makeup bag. I also love that I am able to try out premium brand products without having to shell out a lot of money (poor student life). I will definitely continue my subscription! If you love trying out new products and do not have a lot of money to spend on high-end products, give Ipsy a try! Sign up here!
